Working Group on Cooperation Civil Society Organisations and Interntional Organisations

Main objective for 2002:
To adopt recommendations to improve and to strengthen the cooperation between the civil society organisations and international organisations, including with the specialised agencies of the United Nations. Also, it will look at the strengthening and the democratisation of the United Nations.

· What are the major benefits and limits of cooperation between civil society and international organisations?
· How to promote the participation of civil society organisations in the work of the UN and specialized agencies?
· Participation of NGOS from developing countries in UN activities.
· UN financial crisis and its independence.
· Participation of civil society in the UN General Assembly.

Related activities:
· A questionnaire in order to identify « good practices » and the problems that must be resolved to improve the cooperation between civil society organisations and international organisations.
· A compilation document on the evolution and the experiences, past and present, of the relationship between civil society organisations and international organisations (UN and others).
· Presentation session of the various consultative status with UN bodies.
